Scottish landscapes painting

Details

Tommy Fitchet is a contemporary landscape artist whose work is rooted in abstraction, drawing inspiration from the Scottish landscape and the shifting light of the seasons.

His paintings are instinctive and organic, shaped by both his surroundings and his emotional response to place. From an early age, art—particularly abstraction—has been his most natural form of expression, offering a way to distil experience, mood, and memory, and to step away from the noise of everyday life.

Working across oils, acrylics, and inks on canvas, paper, and board, Fitchet embraces a fluid and intuitive process. Through layering and gesture, he builds depth of tone and colour, allowing light to emerge as both subject and atmosphere within the work.

Whether responding to the urban edges of the city or the rugged coastlines of Scotland, his paintings seek to capture fleeting moments—when light breaks through cloud, touches land or sea, and lingers beyond the moment itself. It is this quiet, transient beauty that sits at the core of his practice.

Tommy Fitchet has exhibited widely, including in Arran, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London, and his work is held in private collections internationally.
