Details
Tommy Fitchet is a contemporary landscape artist whose work is predominantly abstract, inspired by nature, the Scottish landscape, and the shifting light of the seasons.
His paintings are instinctive and organic, shaped by both his surroundings and his emotional response to place. From an early age, art—particularly abstraction—has been his most natural form of expression, offering a way to distil experience, mood, and memory, and to step away from the noise of everyday life.
Working primarily with oils, acrylics, and inks on canvas, paper, and board, Fitchet embraces fluidity and movement within his process. These materials allow him to build depth of tone and colour, to work freely and intuitively, and to explore light as both subject and atmosphere.
Whether responding to the urban landscape of the city or the rugged coastlines and shorelines of Scotland, his work seeks to capture fleeting moments—those brief instances when light breaks through cloud, illuminates land or sea, and leaves a lasting emotional imprint. It is this quiet, transient beauty that sits at the heart of his practice.
Tommy Fitchet has exhibited widely, with shows in Arran, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London. His work is held in private collections internationally.
